Jason Deakings - 2024 NLC Kentucky Fellow

Jason A. Deakings (he/him) is an agent of actionable and sustainable change. He currently serves as the Impact Director for the local non-profit The Hope Buss, Inc. He also works as an adjunct faculty for the University of Pittsburgh. With his role at The Hope Buss, Jason oversees all research, development and grant programming for the organization. He has a bachelor's degree in biology, master's degree in public health in public health, and a doctor of philosophy degree in public health sciences with a specialization in health promotion and behavioral sciences.

As faculty for both the University of Pittsburgh, and formally the University of Louisville, Jason instructed public health courses centered around the social determinants of health and research justice. His guest lectures, speaking engagements, research, and life's work has primarily focused on health equity and social justice, specifically for Black women, men, urban youth, and justice involved individuals.
