Hodan Hashi - 2024 NLC Boston Fellow

Hodan Hashi, a 25-year-old communications professional and photographer and first-generation Somali American. In a field where diversity is scarce, she ardently aspires to shatter boundaries and pave the way for individuals with similar backgrounds.

At the core of Hodan's passion lies the utilization of storytelling as a tool for connectivity. To her, it is a catalyst for connection and enlightenment.

Hodan's journey began at 21 when she co-founded Black Boston, an organization supporting Black Bostonians and addressing racial inequalities. Her dedication to amplifying change-makers' voices led her to work as a field organizer for Andrea Campbell's 2021 Boston mayoral campaign. Her expertise in merging marketing with social change earned her the Boston Magazine Social Justice Advocate of the Year award in 2021.

Now, as the Communications Director for City Councilor At-Large Ruthzee Louijeune, Hodan dabbles in all things social media, content creation, while also centering community building at every step.
