Evelyn Cervantes - 2024 NLC Silicon Valley Fellow

Evelyn Guadalupe Cervantes (she/her) is a proud daughter of Mexican immigrants. As a first generation graduate and public school teacher, she believes everyone benefits when there is racial, gender, and linguistic equity in every classroom. She majored in Political Science and minored in history and education from the UC Davis. She received her Master’s in education and her secondary school credential with a bilingual certification also from UC Davis. She worked for 10 years as a teacher with leadership roles in curriculum with the UC Berkeley History Social Science Project and in labor rights advocacy as an executive board member in the teacher’s union.

Evelyn is currently exploring early childhood education and engagement opportunities in her community first hand with her own young children. She works everyday to grow her own knowledge and practice in advocating and empowering the youth and womxn in her community.
