Dubrea Sanders - 2024 NLC Sacramento Fellow

Dubrea Sanders is first-generation college graduate born and raised in Bakersfield, California. Dubrea currently works in the California State Assembly, working on Racial Equity and Civil Rights issues, such as policy regulating the use of Police Canines and efforts to repeal Proposition 209. Member of the 2022-2023 cohort for the Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellowship Program where he worked on vital legislation, ranging from ground breaking protections for creatives against racial bias in the legal system, to empowering California employees to receive holiday compensation in honor of Juneteenth.

Dubrea also served as a Founding Executive Board Member of the California Legislative Black Staff Association (CLBSA), an organization dedicated to promoting Recruitment, retainment, and mentorship within the Black Capitol community in the California State Legislature.
