Caren Royce Yap - 2026 NLC Washington DC Fellow
Caren Yap is a community organizer, labor policy advocate, and proud Pilipino immigrant. With a purpose to improve the lives of the working class, Caren currently works at the AFL-CIO, where she leads the housing, Medicare/Medicaid, and affordability agenda on the state & local team. Caren previously served at the Hawai`i Governor’s Office and Nevada State Legislature.
From authoring legislation to mobilizing for corporate accountability, Caren is a proud Nevadan, Robert F. Kennedy awardee, and Las Vegas' youngest AAPI Trailblazer. She received her Bachelors' in Business at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a Masters' In Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School. In her free time, Caren enjoys making video montages, singing karaoke, or eating a bowl of spicy soup any time of year.
