Andrea Zabala - 2026 NLC Silicon Valley Fellow

Andrea Zabala is a Physics and Materials Science & Engineering student at the University of California, Berkeley, dedicated to advancing scientific research and STEM education. She works as a student assistant at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on the Advanced Light Source Upgrade in accelerator physics, contributing to experimental projects for next-generation light-source technologies. Andrea also serves K–12 students and families as the founder and president of the Bay Area branch of a STEAM nonprofit focused on expanding access to hands-on science experiences.

Her background ranges from experimental physics to community-centered program development. Outside of research, she enjoys building IKEA furniture, discovering new music, and staying home on rainy days. Andrea aims to create pathways that welcome young learners into STEM.
