Matthew Cuozzo

He/Him

Coordinator, Special Scholarships Program, Prince George's Community College

Matthew (Matt) Cuozzo is passionate about higher education equity. He has a focus on supporting and uplifting Minority Serving Institutions and organizations that predominantly serve students of color. Matt currently works at Prince George’s Community College, where he leads engagement and retention efforts for over 700 college students in various scholarship programs, including the Prince George’s County Promise Scholarship that covers tuition and fees for hundreds of eligible students. Before that he managed a transition program for students who participated in the College’s dual enrollment program.

Matt began his career in an AmeriCorps public service position with College Possible, a national nonprofit that supports low-income students to and through college. This experience enhanced his understanding of the approaches that remove educational barriers for young people. He has since held positions at the New York City Department of Education with the Grades 9-14 (P-TECH) school network, in addition to Excelencia in Education, an organization committed to accelerating Latinx student success in higher education.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Higher Education from the University of Maryland. He enjoys volunteering as a mentor and finding unique ways to serve his community. You can find him on a hiking trail (when it’s warm) or cooking Trinidadian-inspired dishes in his kitchen (when it’s cold).
