Mayra Valadez - Los Angeles

Mayra Valadez is a public servant and organizer who was born and raised in Pacoima. She is Western Regional Redistricting Coordinator for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) where she advocates for Latino representation. She has served as a Field Manager on a frontline Congressional race in Orange County, and a Field Representative for State Assembly member Jesse Gabriel in the San Fernando Valley. Mayra is also a Political Director for the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats, leading endorsement processes.

Mayra studied Industrial and Labor Relations and Latino Studies at Cornell University, where she was elected to lead the First Generation Student Union and serve as the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion on the Student Assembly. Growing up in the Northeast SFV, Mayra became passionate about civic engagement and empowering people in her community. In her free time, she loves to experiment in the kitchen and play acoustic guitar.
