Le Tran

Elementary School Principal, Alum Rock Union School District

Le Tran was born and raised in Oakland, CA. Growing up and attending public schools in Oakland as an English Learner, she discovered that learning takes a lot of determination and that it is truly important to have a growth mindset. Through the encouragement of her wonderful 5th grade teacher, she developed a passion for education. She wanted to also inspire students to realize their potential. Le attended college at UC Davis where she double majored in Psychology and Human Development and minored in Education. Soon after graduating college, she continued her education at UC Davis by getting her master’s degree and teaching credential. She went on to teach in the Alum Rock School District. Currently, Le is an Elementary School Principal in San Jose, where she is serving 310 students in a Title 1 school while working towards opening a Vietnamese Dual Immersion program. Prior to being a principal, she was an elementary school teacher for seven years. Le’s passion is to help students in underprivileged communities recognize their potential. She has volunteered for iMentor, an organization that pairs professionals with juniors in high school for three years to mentor the students on the path to college. In addition to helping students, she has also volunteered for Furry Friends Rescue, an animal rescue organization for the past ten years as a dog and cat foster home. Le is happily married to Scott. They met at the gym and discovered their love for food. Now they spend their days finding good eats and spending time with their two dogs, one cat, and many foster kittens.
