Kia Nishida - Kentucky

Kia Nishida (she/her) is a policy strategist and activist who is passionate about the neurodiversity movement, racial justice, and LGBTQIA rights. Through her current position as a Policy & Advocacy Strategist at the Louisville Urban League, she focuses on state legislation and advocates for health, jobs, and justice reform. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Berea and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville. Prior to her current position, Kia was a Louisville organizer for Ban Conversion Therapy KY and spent two years interning at the ACLU of KY. Kia is originally from Hawaii and has lived on both the West Coast and the East Coast but loves Kentucky the most. During her down time, Kia can often be found curled up with a good book and a cup of tea. She enjoys gardening, baking, and going on adventures with her wife and children.
