Katie Upton - Kentucky

Katie Upton (she/her) is an advocate for healthcare and community resources access. She is driven by the belief that no one should suffer from “stupid diseases” – i.e., diseases that can be easily treated but for lack of access impose significant morbidity or mortality. Katie attended Centre College and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in International Studies. She returned to Kentucky last year following AmeriCorps placements in Arizona and Vermont, and three years in Spain completing a M.A. in International Relations and a research internship on Hep C and HIV. She lives in Lexington, KY with her puppy. She attends UK College of Medicine, serving as the VP of Strategic Community Partnerships for the Lexington Latino Health Advocacy Association (LLHAA) and the Programming Coordinator for Future Professionals in Global Health. She hopes to build a community care and nutrition support center that becomes a repeated model across the country.
