Karina Paredes - Sacramento

Karina Paredes is a proud first-generation college graduate dedicated to advocating for the upward mobility of Californians through higher education. She is the student engagement and policy associate at Public Advocates, a civil rights law firm and advocacy organization that challenges the systemic causes of poverty and racial discrimination. She spearheaded the development of the higher education team and identified pressing policy issue areas to advocate about with college students, community-based organizations, and non-profits by partnering to uplift these issues at the local and state level. Karina double majored in legal studies and social welfare with a minor in education at the University of California, Berkeley. As the eldest daughter raised by Mexican immigrant parents in a low-income household on the Central Coast, Karina understands the deep societal inequities. She has found a home away from home in Sacramento, where she enjoys biking along the river and supporting local businesses.
