Karen Ogbugbulu – Los Angeles

Karen Ogbugbulu, transcends from the education sector as a school principal for a mid-sized charter management organization in Los Angeles. Prior to her ascension as a school administrator, Karen spent 12 years as a classroom teacher founding and working with other charter management organizations around the country. For the past eight years, Karen has continued her education trajectory working for a network where she has been a part of their founding initiatives for diversity, equity, and inclusion, co-collaborating around creating graduate dispositions that help dismantle oppressive actions towards students. Karen has also begun working in the spheres of education that highlight student wellness and response to trauma-informed practice. Karen incorporates her philosophy of inclusive learning by developing teachers to decolonize standardized curriculum and modernizing their pedagogical practices that strategize to eliminate the learning gap in minority students. She has been creating digital content that will become a learning platform that creates educational access to social and emotional learning for students who have experienced myriad racial, socio-economic, and intergenerational traumas. Karen received her bachelors at Texas Southern University. She received her Masters in Education Administration and The Principal Leadership Institute, at UCLA in Los Angeles, California. In her free time, Karen enjoys the arts, culture, and surfing. Karen is a visual artist and former fashion stylist.
