Jesten Slaw - Kentucky

Jesten Sylvester Slaw is a political activist and community organizer. He believes that Change isn’t just about criminal justice reform or access to education, he believes economic empowerment is the missing link in the formula to success. As the Vice President of Advocacy for Louisville Young Democrats, he has worked to unite citizens with candidates and elected officials. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Fort Valley State University with a degree in political science and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in 2012. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from Pennsylvania State University. Most recently, Jesten graduated from the University of Louisville Brandeis school of Law where he served as the Student Bar Association President. Jesten has been heavily invested in the local community although he is an Atlanta Native. He was a Legal Aid fellow for housing equality, taught street law at Central High School for two years, and represented domestic violence victims in the Ackerson Law clinic. Jesten lives by the quote “it cost you nothing to be kind to others”. He intend to spread kindness and love with all that he does.
