Jan Quijada - Washington DC

Jan is an educator, life-long learner, immigrant, and first generation college student. A former classroom teacher, she currently works to advance DC Public School's mission in becoming a whole-child, anti-racist school district through holistic academic curriculum. She serves as the Board Chair for Hamkae Center, an AAPI nonprofit that organizes Asian-Americans for social, racial, and economic justice. Originally from the Philippines, Jan is fluent in Visayan, Tagalog and English. She attended the University of California, Irvine for undergrad where she studied History and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She received her Master's Degree in Education and Social Science Teaching Credential from Stanford University.

When not advocating for education equity and immigration reform, Jan enjoys spending her time at amusement parks, national parks, and anime conventions.
