Isbel Alvarado-Ferrer - Columbus
Isbel Alvarado has advocated for immigrants and low-wage workers in Central Ohio for almost four years, first with a law firm and later with the Central Ohio Worker Center. She aims to ensure working immigrants know and understand their rights in the workplace and finds herself constantly inspired by the workers who have the courage to speak out, even in very vulnerable situations. Isbel has seen workers facing wage theft and eviction as a result of not being paid properly or on time. Her work has extended to the border, where Isbel has volunteered working with immigrants seeking asylum, and across the state, where Isbel has presented at conferences and events. Isbel is a bi-lingual Latina female who was born in Puerto Rico and holds a Juris Doctorate. While she loves her job, her greatest love is her 2-year-old daughter Isabella and the family she built with her partner Ricky.
