Helen Lai – Wisconsin

Helen Lai is a first-generation Chinese American raised in Milwaukee, WI. Being a first-generation child has driven her to constantly pursue her dreams of helping people in all sorts of capacities. Currently, she is a Prevention Supervisor at Vivent Health, working towards a world without AIDS. She implements strategies and services focusing on the PWID (People who inject drugs) population through harm reduction education at a syringe access program. Through her early career working in the non-profit arena, she has seen many health inequities in her community, and this has led her to a passion for fighting these inequities. During her time with Vivent Health, the prevention team and she have won the 2020 Wisconsin Voices for Recovery Community Award and the ARCW Leadership Award. Helen is a proud college graduate of the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse with a bachelor's degree in Public Health and Community Health Education. She is currently completing her Masters of Public Health at Benedictine University. Her passion for public health had encouraged her to get certified as a Community Health Education Specialist. In her spare time, Helen loves relaxing with a good reality TV show, scrolling through her phone searching for her future rescue dog, or out brunching.
