Gwen Frank – Denver

Gwen Frank is an educator and public school building leader in Denver Colorado. She is driven by her core values- justice, growth, and integrity. In her current role as principal in a public, PK-8th grade, dual-language immersion school, she is able to live out those values through reflection and collaboration with the community she serves. Gwen earned her BA in education at University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 2005. She went on to complete her MA in language acquisition education, with a focus on biliteracy and dual language immersion programming, from Edgewood College in 2010. As a teacher and school leader of bilingual education programs, Gwen has worked to dismantle systems of oppression created and sustained by subtractive language programs, and to support additive, dual language programming to become increasingly equitable and just within her school communities. Gwen earned her administrative certificate through the University of Denver Ritchie Internship program in 2016. Gwen loves spending time with her husband and two small children outside of work- walking, painting, playing music together, gardening and exploring Colorado. She is fluent in Spanish and continually grateful for the ways this has allowed her to connect with others, engage in bilingual education, and support bilingual and Spanish-speaking communities.
