Grace Key – Oakland

As a single-mother and University of California, Berkeley Alumnae, Grace Key is excited to build community within NLC. After securing her B.A. in Sociology and minor in Global Poverty & Practice, Grace believes in participatory transformation and positive energies to revitalize and heal neglected spaces within our own proverbial backyards. Her experiences in higher education have reinforced the notion that while progress has provided some advancements, there is work to be done, and there is always room for improvement. Beginning her pursuit of higher education at East Los Angeles College with her sights set on law school, Grace uses lessons gleaned from her own real-life journey to provide support and advocate for other parenting-students in higher education. As a Student Parent Ambassador & Resource Navigator and a Golden Bear Orientation Student Representative, she has placed herself in public positions to reach students of all backgrounds for successful transitions while at Cal. Her dedication has yielded recognition and awards, such as the UC Berkeley Advising Council Advising Award Nomination, the Cal Alumni Leadership Award, the Global Poverty & Practice Fellowship, People for Continuing Education Awards, and EOP Community Engagement Grants, and Grace is also part of the Navigating Cal (Nav-Cal) Family.
