Emmeline Orellana - Rhode Island
Emmeline Orellana (she/her) is a mother and advocate who is passionate about being a catalyst for change in her community. She is a current resident of North Providence, but grew up in the city of Providence. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Johnson & Wales University in 2018, and is currently a graduate student pursuing her Master's Degree in Public Administration. Emmeline has spent time serving her community through advocacy and change for families facing situations in a combination of topics including: immigration, child abuse/neglect, domestic violence, housing/homelessness, addiction/substance abuse, and mental health. Currently, she has become a strong voice as a Parent Leader for Dunamis Synergy at West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation, advocating for policy changes in areas such as childcare and post-secondary education to benefit student parents. Presently, she works at Providence Housing Authority as a Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) Community Safety Coordinator.
