Development Associate, Student U

Connor Kirkpatrick is the Development Associate at Student U, a community-based organization in Durham, North Carolina, whose mission is to empower and equip first-generation college students in Durham Public Schools, their families, and educators to become the leaders that will transform our city. In this role, Connor’s primary responsibility is to tell the story of Student U to investors and community members to make the work of Student U possible. In this role, Connor continues to grow his experience in grant proposal writing, donor database management, nonprofit marketing and communications, fundraising, and stewardship while investing in students who will be the first in their families to graduate from college. As a former educator who has taught and worked with students and families, Connor believes that young people are the greatest assets to our communities with the capacity to contribute to real world issues. Connor regularly participates in organizing efforts to create a more just and equitable world where students have the access to the opportunities that honor the equal value of their lives and enable them to reach their full potential. Connor hails from the small town of Mount Holly, North Carolina, and is a graduate and honors laureate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in English and Nonprofit Leadership and Management. In his free time, Connor enjoys reading, going on an occasional run, watching tiktoks, spending time with his partner, and dancing.
