Chandra Z. Taylor is a public engagement consultant with Vector Communications, a privately held communications firm. She previously worked in Chicago in product operations within the insurance industry until she made the transition into civic engagement. Now, she lives in St. Louis, and provides consulting services to organizations who make it a priority to hear from the communities that they impact. She most recently studied international relations in Ghana, West Africa. The experience brought her closer to the desire to be a liaison between communities and their institutions. Chandra was awarded with the Allstate Helping Hands grant for volunteering with the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago. There she served on their Future Leaders Council as the Professional Development Chair. As a long-time advocate of those impacted with HIV/AIDS, she served as an associate board member for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Additionally, as the Participatory Budgeting Basic Infrastructure Committee Chairperson for Chicago’s 47th Ward, she helped the Roger’s Park community, on Chicago’s north side, allocate over $600,000 to streets, alleys, and sidewalk repairs. Chandra continues to dedicate her time to organizations that support the needs of her community. Chandra earned her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and her M.A. in Procurement and Acquisitions Management from Webster University. She is a native St. Louis and enjoys spending time with her nephew, cooking, and working out. Her favorite novel is Two Thousand Seasons by Ayi Kwei Armah.
