Candice Pettaway - Atlanta
Candice C. Pettaway (she/her) is a native of historic Selma, an educator, a scholar, and an advocate. Candice serves as the Program Coordinator for GEAR UP Georgia at Georgia State University and an Adjunct Instructor at Selma University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Alabama A&M University, a master's degree from Auburn University in Montgomery, and an education administrator credential from The George Washington University. Candice is a second year doctoral student studying Educational Policy Studies at Georgia State University where her research interests center community-engaged research ethics for vulnerable populations, induction support for educators, and Black feminism.
She is a member of the 2019 Alabama Education Association’s Emerging Leaders class, a graduate of the James W. Wright Leadership Development Institute, and a Sister-Fellow of the Women’s Policy Institute of Alabama. Candice loves music and has a heart for advocacy and service to those who have been systematically disenfranchised.
