Amanda is a family law associate attorney at James, McElroy and Diehl, P.A. in Charlotte, North Carolina. Amanda focuses her practice in family law, including child custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, domestic violence, and marital contracts. Amanda’s passion for children and families was ignited during her time representing victims of domestic violence at Legal Aid of North Carolina in Durham. As a 2019 graduate of the Mecklenburg County Bar Leadership Institute, Amanda serves on the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Judicial Nominating Committee and Communications Committee. Amanda is also a fierce advocate and defender of civil rights. Amanda graduated cum laude from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she had the opportunity to work for Julius Chambers’ UNC Center for Civil Rights. Amanda also spent time on the Hill as a legal intern for the late Senator Kay Hagan. Amanda currently serves on the Legislative Committee for the Democratic Women of North Carolina. Amanda enjoys spending her personal time in the fight to end systemic racism. Amanda gleans from her experience as an intern with the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s office in her collaboration with pro bono attorneys representing local Black Lives Matter activists. Amanda has a passion for activism, politics, civic engagement, and serving as a conduit of change between the community, grassroots movements and the legal system. Aside from Amanda’s legal background, Amanda enjoys dancing, traveling (pre-Covid-19), hip-hop and R&B, and spending as much time as possible with friends, family, and her Siberian cat Myles.
