New Leaders Council is seeking a Digital Media Intern to assist the National Communications & Partnerships team in building NLC’s digital footprint through community management and social media. NLC Interns should be available for 10-15 hours a week. There is a $1,000 per semester stipend for this internship. Students receiving educational credit are strongly encouraged to apply.
Who We’re Looking For
NLC’s Digital Media Intern must be an innovative, rising star who is passionate about civic engagement, a love for digital media, and has a strong familiarity with politics and government. Previous experience with online organizing and ability to create innovative graphics are big bonuses.
New Leaders Council is young, energetic, and very diverse. It is a progressive organization dedicated to building rising next generational leaders across the country through a six-month skill-building fellowship held annually in 50 communities across the country. Through all levels of the organization, NLC upholds the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and only hires interns who share those values.
Role and Responsibilities
The Digital Media Intern plays an important role by providing online administrative support to our national community. Responsibilities will be divided between online community upkeep and social media.
In a typical day, a Digital Media Intern could find themselves doing any of the following:
- Updating national and local website content;
- Copy editing blog posts;
- Continually updating and correcting database records;
- Creating graphics for social media;
- Writing engaging email blasts or newsletters;
- Monitoring social media platforms;
- Coordinating production and tracking weekly newsletters.
NLC uses NGP/EveryAction, knowledge of this platform is greatly preferred but NLC can provide training for the right candidate. There is potential for graphic design assignments and exposure to online fundraising as well as joining the team working on NLC’s National Convention in August of 2020.
