Project Manager and Implementation Associate, Colorado Education Initiative
Valeria Martinez was raised in Aurora, Colorado and received her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University as a first-generation student in 2017. Through her lived experiences in the education system, Valeria developed a passion to create a more equitable education system for all students. Valeria currently works for the Colorado Education Initiative (CEI) as a Program Manager and Implementation Associate where she works on a variety of state-wide projects focused on accelerating educational improvement and innovation. Valeria’s passion for building pockets of equity in education can be reflected in her work with the development of an Equity Council for the Boulder Valley School District, facilitating discussions with the broader Colorado community on Education Equity during the COVID-19 crisis, and launching the broadcast of K-3 literacy lessons in partnership with Rocky Mountain PBS. Aside from working at CEI, Valeria is also a proud member of the Raices Brewing Company team and enjoys working in a space that welcomes and celebrates the diversity of the Latinx community. Valeria previously worked for a public charter school network in Denver where she led the Family Engagement and Advocacy team. Valeria hopes to continue her own education and the fight for justice and equity in communities that reflect her own identities. In her free time, Valeria enjoys reading, yoga, meditating, and indulging in outdoor activities.
