Torrence Williams is currently a Senior Industrial Engineer and Sales Professional at Grover Enterprises Inc and a Commissioner for the City of Richlawn in Louisville, KY. Torrence holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Louisville and brings a wealth of project management experience in the fields of plastics/plastic joining, automation, and assembly equipment. He has almost a decade of experience developing working relationships with Fortune 500 companies to start-ups and everything in between. Born and raised in poverty in Louisville, KY, Torrence is passionate about giving back to the community that shaped him. Having navigated the barriers to success with guidance from his grandmother, Torrence believes in addressing the root causes of racial inequity by intentionally investing educational resources in low income communities. His community service reflects his dedication to those beliefs as he has served on boards for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Metro United Way, and currently serves on the Associate Board of the Nativity Academy. He has also volunteered with the YMCA Black Achievers program and the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership program. In 2018, Torrence was the recipient of the inaugural Young Leaders Award presented by Louisville Business First. The award recognizes young leaders who excel in their field as well as in their community. In his free time, you can find Torrence traveling with his wife, playing basketball, and recording for his podcast Let’s Get Uncomfortable!, which focuses on issues of race and class.
