Tony Martinez is an Associate in Proskauer's Labor & Employment Law Department. He graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers Law School-Newark in May 2018 with a Juris Doctor and earned a BA in Political Science from Rutgers University in 2015. During his time at Rutgers Law School, Tony served as a passionate advocate for his peers. He was named the sole student member of the Dean's Search Committee, which was dedicated to identifying and interviewing suitable candidates for the position of Co-Dean of the law school. In addition, Tony served as a mentor to other students and chaired the Minority Student Program Committee.
Tony intends to use his legal career to advance the cause of justice for all. Tony is particularly passionate about raising the voices of those who are unheard. He recognizes that communities of color and those of low socio-economic status, among others, are far too often neglected by political leaders. He hopes to build a bridge and create a dialogue between political leaders and these vulnerable communities.
While in law school, Tony served as a volunteer for Rutgers Law School's Voter Assistance Project. In this role, he helped protect the rights of Essex County voters who were turned away at the polls on Election Day. Through his pro bono work at Proskauer, Tony has helped secure U nonimmigrant status for clients and counseled nonprofit organizations to ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws.
A Bergen County resident for the past fifteen years, Tony currently resides in Hackensack. He volunteers as a Leadership Council Member and "Big Brother" for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson, and Union Counties. Tony is a Sunday School teacher, history buff, and avid gamer, who enjoys spending time with his partner and their dog.
