Tara Pohlmeyer, born and raised in Texas, is new to the activist world with a background in journalism. As a young progressive, Tara is passionate about empowering women of all backgrounds and supporting reproductive rights.
Tara joined the team at Progress Texas, a rapid response media and digital strategy nonprofit promoting progressive ideals, in 2018. As a communications associate, she focuses on media relations, content creation, and social media management, helping the team work on projects such as live election night broadcasts and Humans Against Ted Cruz.
Before Progress Texas, Tara worked as a digital journalist for local Texas newspapers and cultivated a love for social media, community engagement, and writing. She loves using these skills when promoting progressive ideals in her current role.
Originally from the Rio Grande Valley, Tara graduated from Texas State University in May 2016 with a bachelor’s of science in electronic media. There, she served as station manager for KTSW-FM 89.9, the award-winning college radio station, as well as president of the Terry Scholars of Texas State University.
