After spending time working in nonprofits, project management, and private sector consulting, TaNisha Smith works as an IT project manager for Philips. She is an active member of the Nashville community, having served on the Board of Directors of Street Works, a local HIV/AIDS outreach organization, the Urban League Young Professionals of Middle Tennessee, and currently, Girls on the Run of Middle Tennessee. As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, TaNisha has been a mentor for teenage girls, facilitated health forums on issues impacting black women, served on the executive board of her local chapter and currently serves as the State Coordinator for Social Action. In addition to serving on the board of Girls on the Run of Middle Tennessee, she has volunteered with the organization as a running buddy, site coordinator, and run coach. In 2018, she was awarded the Nashville Emerging Leader Award for Technology by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. TaNisha earned both a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public policy from Vanderbilt University.
