Sydney Knowles was born in San Antonio, TX but was raised in South New Jersey. She moved to Florida to attend Bethune-Cookman University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology and later attended the University of South Florida where she earned her Master of Social Work. She moved back to San Antonio in 2017 and has been eager to engage in her home community ever since. She has been an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated since 2007 which has been her primary source of community service and networking. Her community outreach and engagement ranges from road clean-up activities, participation in voter registration drives, feeding the homeless, planning activities for retirement homes, volunteering at local political candidate forums, laying foundation for homes with Habitat for Humanity, restoring city parks, hosting holiday festivals for children, serving on a church social service ministry, tutoring college and middle school students, and even planting trees in Miami Beach, Florida.

Ms. Knowles currently works on the leadership team for Divinity Family Services, a child placing agency serving foster families. Her professional work has centered around Child Protective Services in the states of Florida and Texas in both generalist and clinical roles. She enjoys working with a variety of populations who benefit from social services such as foster children, veterans, and domestic violence victims. Ms. Knowles has a vast experience in working with employers and service organizations whose missions focus on community-based efforts, specifically to the enhancement of social services.

Ms. Knowles is in the process of earning the LMSW with the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners. She loves looking for professional development opportunities that allow her to enhance her skills in community leadership and collaboration, communication, client service satisfaction, organizational leadership, local government policies and anything that can help her make an impact in the child welfare spectrum. Some of her most recent programs include the City of San Antonio Neighborhood Leadership Academy and the Junior League of San Antonio LeaderBOARD. Ms. Knowles' next professional development project is to learn how to navigate the political arena within her local San Antonio community and continued on to the state level politics in Austin, TX.
