Silky Malik
Owlfa, LLC, Vice President, Strategy

Silky is a native Houstonian and a product of everything this great state has to offer. A through and through Texan, Silky graduated from John Foster Dulles High School in 2002, going on to earn two bachelor’s degrees in psychology and sociology from the University of Houston, and later earned her MBA from the Texas A&M school system.

While working towards her MBA, she worked as a substitute teacher with HISD to gain a better insight into our public education system. After graduating from the University of Houston, Silky joined MD Anderson Cancer Center where she worked in cancer research and conducted community outreach programs at LBJ hospital.  Silky continued this community outreach work after moving abroad to Southeast Asia where she worked as a primary school substitute teacher, while also working with one of Malaysia’s largest women’s charitable organizations.

In 2017 Silky ran for the US House of Representatives in Texas’ 2nd District, and came in 3rd in a five-way primary. Silky continues to find more ways to be involved with the local Democratic Party and myriad Democratic clubs around Houston, and she hopes to run for office again someday in the future!

Currently, Silky works in strategy and development for a financial company based here in Houston.  Most recently, Silky has accepted a position on KPFT’s talk radio show Coming to America, which explores immigration issues, as well as topical issues important to Houstonians.
