Shams Al-Badry is a first generation Iraqi-American who calls Nebraska home. She currently serves as an academic advisor at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and completing her master’s degree in Community Development. In addition to her work at UNL she serves on the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission, as well as a board member for the YWCA of Lincoln, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Lincoln and chairs a subcommittee for the Superintendent’s Facilities Advisory Committee for Lincoln Public Schools (LPS). She previously served as a board member for NLC-Omaha, a Real Change Fellow, and a Teach for America Corps member.
