Sarah Gudger is a native of Western North Carolina, born in Asheville and raised in Hendersonville. Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains shaped her passion for community activism. Motivated by the inequality she witnessed in her rural community, she started fundraising and volunteering at a young age.
Sarah graduated from North Carolina State University Magna Cum Laude as a double-major in political science and interpersonal communication. While at NC State, she discovered her love for public policy and politics. She is most passionate about health care, environmental, and good government reform policy. Her student research centered around health care and redistricting reform. She interned with Environment NC and Common Cause NC, assisting in fundraising, grassroots engagement, and lobbying.
After graduating in 2017, Sarah began her career in progressive politics, where she believed she could help foster the most change. Since then, she has served as a political fundraiser on four North Carolina political campaigns at the local, state, and federal levels. In 2018, Sarah worked as part of three-person finance team that raised more than $4 million for a DCCC Red to Blue Campaign. Sarah currently serves as the North Carolina Finance Manager for the DSCC.
Sarah looks forward to shaping her career around her commitment to improving the lives of her North Carolina neighbors.
