Samuel “Wes” Tripp
North Carolina Court of Appeals, Law Clerk

Wes is a newly licensed attorney who currently serves as a Law Clerk for a Judge on the North Carolina Court of Appeals.  Wes graduated from Campbell University School of Law in May 2018 with a Juris Doctor and earned a bachelor’s degree in history cum laude from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2014.  Wes has served in various positions within the Democratic Party ranging from Vice-Chair of his precinct to Eastern Region Vice Chair of the Young Democrats of North Carolina. Currently, Wes serves as Chair of the Fourth District Democratic Executive Committee which places him on the North Carolina Democratic Party’s Executive Committee.  While in law school, Wes led the Campbell Law Democrats and in partnership with the Campbell Law Republicans organized a panel discussion among all statewide appellate court candidates in 2016. Wes has served as a member of the Wake County Historical Preservation Commission and currently serves with the North Carolina Bar Association Young Lawyer’s Division Diversity and Inclusion Committee.  

Wes is a North Carolina native—born in Rocky Mount, raised in Roanoke Rapids, and currently lives in Raleigh.  While a North Carolina native, Wes enjoys watching his alma mater, the Tennessee Volunteers play football, on Saturdays in the fall.
