Patricia K. Billette is the current Deputy Director of The Creature Conservancy, an educationally oriented wildlife conservation center in southeast Michigan promoting a mission of Conservation through Education. Her current role involves oversight of daily operations, formation of community partnerships, and implementation of strategic goals. She has developed new opportunities for youth engagement and hands-on skills training, and is passionate about continuing to expand the Conservancy's outreach efforts in underserved and marginalized schools and communities.
Patricia has worked extensively in informal education, teaching ecological principals and fostering environmental activism in a variety of settings. Patricia's dedication to fostering cross-cultural understanding of and appreciation for environmental solutions has seen her travel widely, facilitating community-based conservation solutions to issues such as global warming and species loss in settings from rural Uruguay to the Canadian Arctic.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Patricia earned her bachelor's degree in Wildlife Science with a concentration in Conservation Genetics. She relocated to Michigan in 2015, and in her free time, enjoys exploring metro Detroit green spaces with her rescued dog.
