Olivia Algiers is a graduate student in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program through the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee, Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health. Focusing on health policy and administration in her graduate studies, she is particularly interested in tobacco control, marketing, and usage. Olivia has worked with the American Lung Association as an MPH intern and plans to research vaping- and e-cigarette-related health communication and media coverage for her capstone graduate project in Spring 2020.
Olivia earned an undergraduate degree in Journalism and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin — Madison in 2014. Prior experiences have included roles in community organizing, marketing, communications, and guest services with local and national organizations. Currently Olivia works as the Logistics and Marketing Coordinator for a local design firm, Chemistry in Place, where she helps the team research and pursue new projects. She has particularly valued being a member of this design team while working on various Milwaukee-based neighborhood development projects. In her leisure time, Olivia enjoys checking out new local hiking trails, indulging in Milwaukee's endless array of summer festivals, and feeding her insatiable travel bug both in the US and abroad (bonus if she can use her Spanish language skills in her travels).
