Nick Truog is a Milwaukee native and a proud first generation college graduate from Marquette University with two degrees in International Affairs and Political Science. Upon graduation, Nick began a career in political operations, conducting statewide outreach on a Wisconsin Gubernatorial Campaign and managing state legislative campaigns with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in 2018. Today he serves as the Executive Assistant and Outreach Specialist for the Office of Congresswoman Gwen Moore; coordinating her district schedule, events and logistics; as well as writing remarks on the member's behalf.
Outside of work Nick is an active member of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc, a volunteer for Running Rebels Community Organization, and other community organizing and service initiatives. He represents Wisconsin on the Young Democrats of America's National Committee and is apart of numerous academic honor societies in philosophy, political science and international studies. In 2019 Nick was selected as a finalist for the U.S Department of State's prestigious Thomas Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship and continues to pursue a career in the Foreign Service.
His long term goals include earning a master's degree in Public Affairs and continuing a career in public service domestically or abroad. He hopes that New Leaders Council will develop his skills both professionally to become an effective leader and public servant.
