Position
Colorado State Director + University of Denver, MA Candidate in Global Community Engagement, America Votes

Nadia Nisha Belkin currently serves as the Colorado State Director for America Votes and is the first woman of color to hold this position. In her role, she facilitates the development of electoral plans and long-term power building in the progressive issue advocacy space. Her work involves the coordination and alignment of strategic planning efforts amongst 41 in state partners as well as numerous national organizations. Prior to this role, Nadia was the National Deputy Field Director at America Votes where she traveled to various states to provide on the ground infrastructure evaluation as well as hands-on skills training and technical assistance. Her oversight of the state based field team (active in 12 + states) lent itself to her understanding of cross-state trends and state specific strategic planning guidance. Nadia is a member of the DEI team at America Votes and is committed to diversifying table partners (both nationally and at the state level) and building programmatic infrastructure that helps build power and engagement in communities of color. Nadia is invested in Colorado and strengthening civic engagement statewide. She served as the Communications Director at the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, where she developed grassroots trainings and focused on mobilizing faith communities to become activists in their community and in the state legislature around racial, economic, and social justice issues. She has also worked on hard side campaigns including the Colorado Coordinated campaign in 2016 where she successfully organized and turned out the vote across racially, culturally, and socio-economically diverse communities across Colorado. As an Indian-American, Muslim woman, Nadia has worked to elevate the voices and profiles of people of color. Earlier this year she was named in The National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs “40 Under 40” list for her work and commitment to building out AAPI voter engagement in key battleground states. She remains professionally focused on producing innovative and strategic ideas which will cultivate relationships within the progressive community across multiple audiences. She serves as a national board member for the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center (BISC) and on the board of Organizing Empowerment, a relational voter engagement tool. Nadia is a graduate of Smith College, where she earned her B.A. in Government and International Relations. She is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Global Community Engagement at the University of Denver.
