Mina Shedd is a founder and member of the steering committee of the Middle TN chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the Nashville Welcoming Committee. She has been involved in working class organizing for many years and has lived in Nashville all her life. She received her degree in both Technical Writing and Creative Writing from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 2014 and currently works at Vanderbilt University in the Office of Medical Student Research. She has served as steering committee member for the local chapter of DSA since its inception, has been elected as delegate to the National Convention for the Democratic Socialists of America, and serves as a lead facilitator for her chapter's Night School. A trans woman, she is a Marxist and Socialist who fights for the working people of the world and holds both of those as important and unflinching values in her life. She sees that local organizing is the only way to build to a sustainable, equitable future. Outside of work she is an avid baker and cook, a disciplined runner, and passionate writer and reader. Film is a large passion of hers, and tries to watch movies, old and new, as much as she can.
