Michael Drake serves as Speechwriter for the Superintendent of Financial Services for the State of New York. Prior to this role, Michael served as speechwriter and communications advisor to New York Assembly Member Michael Blake during his campaign for New York City Public Advocate. He also worked as a program analyst, helping coordinate New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's campaign to end veteran homelessness with the Mayor's Office of Veteran's Affairs. He served as a combat medic with the U.S. Army where he was deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom VIII with the 82nd Airborne Division, and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor for rendering medical care while under enemy fire. He received a B.A. in Political Science and Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley and a M.P.A from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
