Mia Balderas
Texas House of Representatives, Rep. Diego Bernal, Communications and Outreach Director

As a native San Antonian, Mia Balderas is passionate about creating positive change in her local community through policy and outreach. She currently serves as the Communications and Outreach Director for Texas State Representative Diego Bernal, House District 123. She leads the communications strategy of the office and assists the District 123 team in researching the policy areas of public education and public health. Prior to working in state government, Mia served as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the City of San Antonio’s Office of Equity. In the Office of Equity, she worked as the Community Engagement Coordinator and managed the office’s social media and gathered community feedback. Mia consistently met with organizations and community leaders to discuss the work of the office and build relationships.

Mia graduated as Valedictorian from St. Edward’s University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Global Studies with a minor in Spanish. In addition to government, Mia has a strong interest in the areas of immigration, Mexican American studies, and women’s rights.

Outside of work, Mia enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and textile weaving. Overall, she aims to continue to network, connect, and grow within the San Antonio community.
