Meghna Sohoni
Teach For America, Manager, Recruitment

Meghna Sohoni is a second generation Indian American woman who is passionate about driving systemic change for educational equity. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in political science from the University of Minnesota, Meghna joined Teach For America. She led a classroom of 5th graders in South Minneapolis. During her time in Teach For America, Meghna was a regional finalist for the Sue Lehmann Award which recognizes excellence in teaching. She currently works as a Manager of Recruitment at Teach For America where she leads a team of four and manages recruitment efforts across four Minnesota colleges. She has a deep commitment to bringing in our most promising and diverse leaders to tackle educational inequity in every system and sector.

In her time within the classroom, Meghna was selected as one of seven educators in the state of Minnesota to serve as a Legislative Advocacy Fellow with Educators 4 Excellence. In her role, she lead meetings with legislators to testify on policy issues, published an article in MinnPost about the disparities prevalent within Minneapolis Public Schools and helped write legislative policy memos on racial discipline disparities.

She also served as a Policy and Advocacy Fellow with Leadership for Educational Equity. In this role she analyzed innovation barriers principals faced in Chicago to inform action for Chicago Public Schools, created a manual to outline barriers principals faced within the Chicago district and planned an Innovation Showcase for over forty educators.

In her spare time, Meghna serves as a board member with The Collective, a Teach For America alumni of color association and also serves on the Twin Cities Teach For America alumni board. She loves to run, listen to podcasts, read historical fiction books, try new recipes in her instant pot, play endless amounts of board games and explore new restaurants in Minneapolis
