Product Manager, International Rescue Committee
Martha Janicki is a Product Manager at the International Rescue Committee. At the IRC, she leads technology for the Signpost project whose mission is to empower refugees, migrants and people in crisis with timely, accessible, life-saving information when they need it most and pivoting the power dynamic in their favor. She is committed to furthering equity and social justice in her community, breaking neocolonial traditions in the humanitarian sector, and shrinking the technology access gap. Originally from Toronto and Houston and the child of Polish refugees from Wrocław, she graduated from Reed College with a degree in Economics and published research in HIV prevention. Prior to the International Rescue Committee, Martha worked closely with senior leadership of the Ebola response with the World Health Organization, first in West Africa and then at headquarters in Geneva. This was followed by similar work for the Zika response and then strategy for the newly formed Emergency Response Unit for the Organization. She got her start in technology as the first employee at Switchboard, where she witnessed the staying power of human connection and empathy in a growingly disconnected digital world. In her free time, Martha explores New York state by bike, develops her textile practice, and launches public karaoke events with her friends whenever possible.
