Lily Trieu is passionate about educational equity and social change through creating a world-class public education system. She currently resides in Austin and is the Director, Public Affairs for Teach for America, supporting regions across Texas. With a Bachelor of Business Administration in Market and Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, Lily began her career in the private sector and spent almost ten years working in functions such as supply chain and logistics, data analytics, and business development and account management. She made a pivot into the nonprofit, policy, and education space after obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, with a concentration in Public and Governmental Affairs. During her studies, she was selected as a Graduate Archer Center Fellow and spent three months in Washington, DC, with a focus on federal education policy, before returning to Texas to work in the 86th Legislative Session in the House Committee on Public Education.
A child of refugees and immigrants, Lily grew up in the diverse city of Houston, TX and has spent many years focused on civic engagement and voter mobilization. During her time in Houston, Lily has served as a Precinct Chair for the Fort Bend County Democratic Party, volunteered with progressive organizations such as Battleground Texas and Annie's List, and worked to train future organizers through Organizing for Action. Inspired by her parent's personal journeys and the vibrant Asian-American community in Texas, Lily is committed to empowering her community to elect progressive leaders who will bring equity and opportunities to all.
