Born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in Northwest Arkansas, Leon Jones III is a second-year political science student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He graduated with honors from Fayetteville High School in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he participated in the American Legion Boys Nation, which gave him a passion for giving back to the youth of Arkansas. He now serves on the counselor staff for the American Legion Arkansas Boys State.
During his matriculation at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, he has joined the Student Government Association (SGA) and served as Chief Justice of the SGA Supreme Court and currently serves in the SGA legislative branch as a Senator for his class. He is also actively working on revising his school's SGA constitution. He is a spring 2019 initiate into the Gamma Sigma chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. During the summer of 2019, he participated in a study abroad program in Guatemala. He enjoys spending time with his fraternity brothers, writing for the school's newspaper, Arkansawyer, and serving his school by being a voice for students.
His aspirations include becoming an agent of change for the people in his state and eventually holding public office. Now, Leon will continue taking steps toward his goals by being a campus activist and increasing political literacy while working with his political science department.
