She currently leads her community as Director of Public Issues for the Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) and volunteers with the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association. Lena passionately believes that democracy is indispensable. She considers herself a public servant and is committed to community engagement in various forms, especially voter engagement. She is driven by educating on and rallying against voter suppression, both at home in Louisville and at a larger scale across the country. Lena’s inspirations include Warsan Shire, Angela Davis, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. In her free time, Lena enjoys hiking and spending time with her nieces. She tries her hardest to focus on doing good and leading others to do the same so that we can all leave better communities behind us.
