Lakeshia Bailey is currently a second-year MPA student at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she’s focusing on emergency management. She also has a BA in International Studies from Northern Kentucky University. She recently accepted a position as a Disabled Veteran Outreach Specialist at a nonprofit called Career Source in West Palm Beach, FL. Her role is to assist service-disabled veterans in obtaining employment. She’s committed her professional life to public service.
She previously served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman for five years before deciding to go back to school to receive her Master’s degree. Both of her parents served in the military and she was inspired to join. She left the military to pursue opportunities in the nonprofit industry. Her professional goal is to work in humanitarian assistance. She’s a volunteer with Team Rubicon, a veteran ran disaster assistance nonprofit.
Lakeshia is happily engaged to be married in September of 2021. They met while she was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC, and have been together for 3 years. They bonded over their love of movies, Harry Potter franchise, and traveling. She has a passion for traveling and hopes to one day work overseas. Her number one personal goal in life is to visit all seven continents with her partner.
