Kevin Patrick was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in the Fremont, California. Kevin earned a B.A. from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. After graduating, Kevin moved to Des Moines, Iowa to work on then Senator Obama’s 2008 Presidential campaign. After the campaign, Kevin worked in the Iowa Insurance Division as an intern tracking and reviewing health care legislation that resulted in the Affordable Care Act signed by President Barack Obama. Later in 2012, Kevin earned his J.D. from Drake University Law School, where he met his best friend and wife Lauren.
In the Des Moines community, Kevin has served on the Friends of Des Moines Parks Foundation Board, as an officer in the local chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and on the Public Relations committee of the Iowa State Bar Association. In 2017, Kevin had the opportunity to serve on an ad hoc committee of the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation for the “Monumental Journey” project. This project, completed in 2018, memorialized the founding of the National Bar Association- the nation’s oldest and largest national association of predominantly African American lawyers and judges representing the United States
Currently, Kevin serves on the Drake Law Board of Counselors, and the Community and Strategic Plan (CASP) Committee. CASP’s purpose is to coordinate and develop a community action plan to reduce disproportionate minority contact of juveniles in Iowa’s delinquency system. Kevin is currently employed as an Assistant Polk County Attorney in Des Moines, Iowa.
