Kenneth Scales is originally from Oceanside, CA. He and his family moved to Minneapolis in the early 00's from the great place of Bronx, NY. His roots run deep and he holds each place he's lived dear to him. When he is often asked where are you from? He affectionately says "CaliYorkaSota."

He has a deep passion for community, people, and entrepreneurship. He has been working in the nonprofit sector for the past 12 years. He began his career as an AmeriCorps Volunteer with the PEACE Foundation which is now known as The Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ) where he currently works. He has held many roles with the organization such as Youth Development Specialist, Lead Family Achievement Coach and most recently the Donor and Government Relations Manager.

Kenneth is also a gifted entrepreneur and founder of the BowTie Billionaire Brand. The company was originally conceived in 2013 and launched in 2016. Kenneth's vision for the company is to continue to meet the needs and fill the voids in the marketplace for African American men personal care products. With Kenneth's passion for business and community, he finds many ways to give back. He often does motivational speeches to organizations that serves young people about starting businesses. Kenneth also volunteers his time with SafeMN Be the Change Mentorship Program for the last 2 years where he serves as a mentor to a middle school scholar.

Kenneth is a proud alumnus of the 2019 Association Fundraising professional IDEA Fellowship as a well and the 2019 Josie R. Johnson Leadership academy fellowship with the African American Leadership forum. He is very poised to leverage his relationships and new learning into 2020 and beyond.

Beyond working full time, running a company, and volunteering Kenneth is proud father of a very curious and busy 1-year old son, Nolan. When asked, what's the greatest position you have ever held? Kenneth wouldn't hesitate and says fatherhood.
